How this calculator works

We apply the current federal tax brackets to your taxable income (gross salary minus the standard deduction for your filing status), add Social Security at 6.2% up to the annual wage base and Medicare at 1.45%, then subtract an estimated state income tax. The result is your net — or take-home — pay.

What it doesn't include

Pre-tax deductions (401(k), HSA, health insurance premiums), tax credits, itemized deductions, local/city taxes, and bonus withholding. These can move your real paycheck up or down — treat the result as a close estimate, not your exact stub.
